Previous car-following theory research does not consider the driver’s forecast effect. In this Letter, we present a new car-following model with considering the optimal velocity forecast based on the full velocity difference model. The linear stability condition of the new model is obtained by using the linear stability theory. It can be found that the critical value of the sensitivity in the new model decreases and the stable region is apparently enlarged, compared with the FVDM. Finally the numerical results are in good agreement with the theoretical analysis.en_US
