dc.description.abstractIn variational analysis of single mode fiber, accurate prediction of propagation characteristics is possible if one chooses the trial approximation of the fundamental modal field accurately and optimizes it with respect to propagation constants. In this paper, we have corrected a recently approximate function and shown how our corrected function over the earlier one excellently predicts results in comparison to the previous report.en_US
