Abstract: Development as a concept hogs the limelight in the present-day sociopolitical and economic deliberations. The globe is divided on the lines of development. And there are certain critical issues related to development that needs to be addressed. Development Ethics is the field of ethical inquiry on development, which tries to answer: what ought to be development? And look towards solutions for complex problems facing mankind. This paper discusses the relation between Amartya Sen’s capability and development. The focus being on the dimensions of agency, related to capability, that can shape the ethics of development.
